I researched all the different models of the Norelco SensoTouch 3D before finally purchasing this Philips Norelco 1280XCC SensoTouch 3D Electric Razor and I feel it is the best model out of the set! The cleaning system is totally worth it and the sleek look and display matches it price tag versus some of the cheaper models that look just like that--cheap.

After seven years using A Braun foil shaver, I bought this Norelco (Model 1280X/42 and 1280XCC are the same) and I could not be more pleased. It is really like night and day. The closeness of the shave is orders of magnitude different, and I don't feel like I'm pressing incredibly hard to get a decent shave. The rotary motion takes a bit of time to get used to but is just fine now. Gives a great close shave and moves well across the face and neck. Totally worth the buy especially with the current $30 off coupon.

This is a great shaver. It cuts extremely close (especially when wet), has a neat looking LCD display that tells you the minutes remaining in the battery, and is well built/finished. My only complaint about the Norelco 1280XCC SensoTouch shaver is it does not lay flat or have a hole to thread a string handle. This makes it difficult to put down within the shower once my shave is completed. My solution was just to place it within a cup in the shower.

Over Christmas I decided to finally treat myself and upgrade to the 1280X with the cleaning system. Plus my brother had the 1280X and recommended it highly to me and his beard is heavier than mine. Traveling with the 1280X - From my experience so far I think I could travel with the 1280X for 25 days without needing to take the charging stand and cord with me - that's assuming it was fully charged when I left (60 minutes of shaving time is the maximum charge).

Conclusion: Highly recommended without reservation for all except for those few guys who have an exceptionally heavy beard. For those guys I would recommend at least checking the Norelco 1280X SensoTouch out if that is at all possible.
